Siemens Energy begins its brand transition to Omterra

The German energy technology company has decided to take a definitive step in its corporate evolution. Officially, the company has begun preparations to operate under a completely independent commercial identity: Omterra. This transformation is in response to the expiration of the temporary licensing agreement that governed the use of the original brand inherited from its former parent company.

The expiration of Siemens Energy’s license

Regarding the origin of this decision, the corporation was spun off from Siemens AG in 2020. At that time, a time limit was set for the commercial use of the traditional brand.

The board of directors determined that the company’s current operational and financial strength represents the ideal scenario to consolidate a name of its own. As explained by Christian Bruch, the entity’s CEO, its position in the capital markets and the trust earned from customers make it possible to undertake this brand transition with full confidence. The executive expressed gratitude for the founder’s legacy, but pointed to the need to build an autonomous, future-oriented brand presence.

On the other hand, the current subsidiaries Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy will be integrated under the single name Omterra. The renaming process will begin at the end of 2026 and will be carried out gradually in stages.

This unification seeks to optimize the structure for the global market for renewable energy and conventional generation. Likewise, the company’s strategic leadership assured that the brand migration will not affect relationships with its business partners, customers, or employees in the more than 90 countries where it maintains an active presence.

Projections in the energy technology sector

Finally, the new identity will seek to reflect the group’s leadership in the transition toward sustainability. With an approximate workforce of 105,000 employees and reported revenue of €39.1 billion in fiscal year 2025, the manufacturer provides the technology behind one-sixth of global electricity generation.

Omterra’s commercial portfolio will continue to cover the entire value chain, from gas and steam turbines to wind turbines and energy storage.
