SEOGS 2026 Suriname consolidates its position as the country’s leading energy showcase after bringing together operators, investors, contractors, and authorities in Paramaribo to analyze the future of one of the world’s most promising offshore basins. During the event, Petronas confirmed that Block 52 already exceeds 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent (boe) discovered, reinforcing Suriname’s energy potential and accelerating international interest in new development projects.

The conference comes at a decisive moment for the country, which is simultaneously advancing major oil and gas projects while seeking to consolidate a supply chain capable of supporting the growth of its offshore industry for decades to come.

SEOGS 2026 Suriname Gathers the Regional Energy Industry

The sixth edition of the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition (SEOGS) has once again made Paramaribo the main meeting point for stakeholders involved in the country’s energy development. International operators, service companies, technology providers, and government representatives gather to discuss investment, innovation, and industrial development opportunities.

The sustained growth of the event reflects the interest Suriname has generated on the global energy map, especially after the series of deepwater discoveries made over the last decade.

Petronas Strengthens Block 52’s Potential

One of the most relevant announcements at the event was the update presented by Petronas on the exploratory performance of Block 52. The company confirmed that cumulative discoveries in this area already exceed 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent, consolidating the block as one of the highest potential assets within the Surinamese offshore basin.

The company also maintains its goal of moving towards a final investment decision before the end of 2026, a fundamental step to transform the discovered resources into long-term commercial development.

GranMorgu Brings Suriname Closer to Its First Offshore Production

While Petronas advances in the evaluation of its gas resources, another major protagonist of the conference is the GranMorgu project, led by TotalEnergies in Block 58.

The initiative represents the country’s most advanced oil development and is scheduled to begin production in 2028 using a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit designed to operate with high standards of efficiency and emissions reduction.

The coexistence of both projects strengthens the national energy strategy and expands opportunities to attract new investments in infrastructure, logistics, and specialized services.

Guyana and Suriname Consolidate a New Energy Frontier

Suriname’s progress occurs in parallel with the extraordinary growth of Guyana, whose offshore production already exceeds 900,000 barrels per day thanks to the development of the Stabroek block.

The evolution of both countries is transforming the Guyana-Suriname basin into one of the fastest-growing energy regions in the world, attracting international capital and accelerating the incorporation of new industrial capabilities throughout the region.

For energy operators, this trend confirms the long-term potential of an oil province that continues to generate commercially significant global discoveries.

SEOGS 2026 Suriname Opens Opportunities for the Offshore Industry

Beyond exploratory announcements, SEOGS 2026 highlights the growing need for specialized services to support the development of projects currently under construction, evaluation, or planning.

The expansion of offshore activities will drive demand for inspection, mechanical integrity, industrial maintenance, subsea technologies, maritime logistics, drilling, and asset management. In this context, the conference is positioned as a strategic platform to connect operators, contractors, and suppliers who will participate in Suriname’s next stage of energy growth.

The international interest observed during SEOGS 2026 also confirms Suriname’s growing relevance on the global energy map.
