The corporations Saipem and Petrobras have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing a technical dialogue on the decommissioning of oil fields. This non-binding agreement will focus on the analysis of integrated solutions for subsea systems, gas wells, and associated infrastructure.
The operational end and decommissioning of oil fields
The cooperation framework specifically covers the plugging and permanent abandonment of energy assets phases. Both organizations seek to mitigate environmental risks, optimize economic performance, and raise sustainability standards in mature operations.
The technical alliance includes the co-design of advanced methodologies for subsea decommissioning in deepwater. Saipem and Petrobras will coordinate efforts to evaluate specialized partners, research centers, and academic entities that add value to the process.
The pact establishes the joint evaluation of critical operational alternatives. This planning includes the efficient allocation of specialized vessels, drilling rigs, and robotic tools to overcome the complexities of the seabed. Likewise, the improvement of current industrial safety protocols is also considered.
The term of the agreement is set for a period of twelve months. During this time, technical teams will determine the feasibility of definitive commercial contracts, which will require specific and independent agreements for their formal execution in the Brazilian energy sector.
