Meghna PVC Limited, one of the leading companies in the Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) conglomerate, has strengthened its industrial maintenance strategy through an alliance with Jotun to implement advanced proactive corrosion management solutions at its chemical facilities.
The company operates in environments that are highly aggressive to metal structures, where continuous exposure to chemicals and demanding operating conditions can accelerate steel deterioration and increase the risk of critical failures. Faced with this scenario, the company decided to adopt AssetKeeper, a solution designed by Jotun to improve maintenance planning and strengthen the protection of industrial assets.
AssetKeeper will optimize preventive maintenance
According to Sunny Gwee, CEO of Jotun Bangladesh Ltd., the platform offers a structured, data-driven approach to monitoring asset status and planning interventions before major damage occurs.
The service includes technical assessments of existing coatings, risk zone analysis, and recommendations for optimizing repair strategies and corrosion protection systems. This allows industrial plants to more accurately justify maintenance budgets and reduce unscheduled downtime.
Likewise, the methodology seeks to avoid operational incidents resulting from accelerated corrosion, a particularly critical problem in chemical processing facilities.
Meghna PVC is committed to long-term asset integrity
Mohammad Iqbal, Deputy General Manager of Meghna PVC Limited, noted that the implementation of AssetKeeper provided a clearer view of the condition of industrial assets and allowed for more efficient prioritization of maintenance tasks.
The initiative includes ongoing annual assessments to monitor the performance of protective coatings and maintain a continuous improvement program in asset management. The project scope encompasses steel structures and pipe support systems throughout the plant’s infrastructure.
With this decision, Meghna PVC Limited reinforces its preventative approach and seeks to minimize risks associated with structural deterioration, operational losses, and industrial safety issues.
Corrosion continues to be a global challenge for industry.
Jotun emphasized that corrosion represents one of the greatest economic and environmental challenges for heavy industry. According to data cited by the company, the global impact of corrosion exceeds $2.5 trillion annually.
Furthermore, it is estimated that by 2030 approximately 9.1% of global CO₂ emissions will be related to the production of steel intended to replace corroded structures.
Ashibul Hussain, manager of the Marine and Protection segment at Jotun Bangladesh, stated that investments in structured assessments and long-term maintenance planning directly contribute to raising industrial safety and sustainability standards.
MGI strengthens its industrial presence in Bangladesh
Meghna Group of Industries is one of Bangladesh’s largest industrial conglomerates, operating over 57 industrial units across the country. Within the group, Meghna PVC Limited is the only local manufacturer of PVC and PET.
The adoption of advanced preventive maintenance and corrosion protection systems reflects a growing trend within the Asian manufacturing sector, where companies seek to improve operational reliability and extend the lifespan of their critical assets.
