Greening deploys the TWiNE platform to accelerate the biomethane market in Spain

The energy multinational introduces a comprehensive industrial structure that already manages 17 advanced projects to transform organic waste into renewable gas.

The company Greening has formalized its entry into the renewable gas sector through the presentation of TWiNE. This new corporate platform takes on the comprehensive design of facilities destined for biomethane production in Spanish territory. Through this strategic move, the firm seeks to diversify its technological portfolio, optimize decarbonization processes, and promote energy independence within the European environment.

In this way, the initiative arises to recover organic waste from agricultural, livestock, and industrial activities. Through this process, the resulting biofuel will be injected directly into the gas transport infrastructure already operational in the country. Regarding this deployment, “With TWiNE, we are expanding our commitment to renewable energies with a specialized platform that will allow us to drive the development of biomethane in Spain and turn its enormous potential into real projects,” states Pablo Otín, CEO of Greening.

Firstly, TWiNE’s operational methodology covers everything from the initial sourcing of raw materials to the delivery of the project ready for construction. The entity centralizes contractual negotiations with agricultural and livestock producers, the location of strategic land, and the procurement of relevant environmental licenses. Likewise, the technical team takes on the engineering projects required for direct connection to the distribution network.

Furthermore, this unified management approach reduces regulatory timeframes, mitigates financial risks associated with investment, and guarantees the technical viability of the assets. Currently, the organization’s portfolio includes 17 developments in advanced stages of processing. These sites are strategically distributed to maximize the use of local resources in each autonomous community.

Comprehensive management of the biofuel life cycle

In line with the above, Spain positions itself as one of the European powers with the greatest biomethane generation capacity due to its strong agro-industrial sector. The confluence of high availability of organic by-products and a mature gas network facilitates the immediate integration of this energy vector. Additionally, the European Union’s regulatory framework supports these investments through the guidelines established in the REPowerEU plans and the Renewable Energy Directive RED III.

Finally, the projects developed under this platform seek to generate a measurable socio-economic impact in the country’s rural areas. The conversion of waste mitigates polluting emissions, promotes the principles of the circular economy, and encourages the creation of skilled employment in depopulated environments. The long-term business plan contemplates the consolidation of an industrial ecosystem based on close collaboration between investors, public administrations, and local waste managers.
