The Spanish consultancy Enertis Applus+ participates in the development of battery energy storage system (BESS) Braston/Wallace a project of 500 MW and 2,000 MWh located in Ayr, in southwest Scotland, the company provides engineering and procurement support services for one of the largest energy storage facilities currently under development in the country.
Engineering to move towards construction
Initially, Enertis Applus+ worked alongside the British developer New Energy Partnership (NEP) to meet the technical and urban planning requirements prior to the construction of the project.
Among the work carried out, the documentation of the site design, the review of the drainage strategy, the design of access and infrastructure, and various technical studies aimed at facilitating the start of the construction phase stand out.
Likewise, these activities made it possible to prepare the project in accordance with the conditions established for its development and future execution.
Support for ContourGlobal during the acquisition
Subsequently, the consulting firm increased its stake following the acquisition of the project by ContourGlobal, an independent power producer that made its first investment in the British market with this transaction energy storage.
During this phase, Enertis Applus+ provided basic engineering services, tender package preparation, bid management, technical supplier evaluation, procurement support, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) modeling. These tasks facilitated supplier selection and technical project planning prior to the start of construction.
Over 17 GWh of experience in storage in the UK
With this acquisition, Enertis Applus+ strengthens its presence in the British energy storage market, the company has accumulated experience in more than 17 GWh of BESS projects and has provided consulting, engineering and quality control services in more than 27 GW of solar installations in the United Kingdom.
The stake in Braston/Wallace reinforces the company’s track record in large-capacity storage projects and strengthens its activity in one of the fastest-growing European markets for this technology.
