ENERCON will expand its production network in Turkey with the manufacturing of generators and hybrid steel towers for its E-175 EP5 E2 onshore wind turbine, the most powerful model in its current portfolio. The company signed collaboration agreements with ATEŞ Wind Power and ATEŞ Celik during the Turkish-German Energy Forum in Ankara.
The decision follows the localization of rotor blade production and reinforces ENERCON’s industrial strategy to serve wind projects in Turkey and Europe. The E-175 EP5 E2 boasts a rated power of 7.0 MW and a rotor diameter of 175 meters, characteristics that place it among the highest-performing onshore wind turbines in the European market.
Generators and towers for ENERCON E-175 EP5 E2
ATEŞ Wind Power will undertake the manufacturing of generators for Turkish projects utilizing the E-175 EP5 E2 turbine. Production will take place in Izmir province and is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. According to the company, this expansion will create 300 new direct jobs and support additional positions at regional suppliers.
ENERCON, for its part, will extend its collaboration with ATEŞ Celik to include hybrid steel tower components, known as HST. These structures will be destined for projects in Turkey and Europe, which will strengthen the availability of critical components for onshore wind farms.
Local Content and Supply Chain
Furthermore, local production will enable ENERCON to meet the requirements of the Turkish wind tender system, which mandates a certain proportion of domestically manufactured components. This condition is key for customers to submit projects with the E-175 EP5 E2 in government calls.
Additionally, the company seeks to reduce logistical risks and improve the resilience of its supply chain. For ENERCON, Turkey remains one of its most relevant international markets, with an active presence since 1998 and over 4 GW installed in the country.
Turkey gains prominence in wind manufacturing
The agreement also reinforces German-Turkish industrial cooperation in renewable energies. The participation of ATEŞ Wind Power and ATEŞ Celik expands local capacity to produce high value-added components in the wind sector.
With this move, ENERCON consolidates the E-175 EP5 E2 as the cornerstone of its international commercial strategy. The company has already signed supply contracts with Turkish customers for over 300 MW, while advancing the global deployment of its new platform for onshore wind energy.
