The maritime firm Bourbon formalized the award of a multi-year agreement aimed at executing subsea service operations off the coast of Ghana. This project will be specifically located in the Jubilee oil field, one of the most operationally significant areas for the organization in the analyzed geographic region. The mobilization of specialized technical resources aims to ensure operational continuity and the efficiency of local clients’ energy assets.
The comprehensive scope of deepwater subsea services
Regarding the technical scope of the project, the planned activities encompass inspection, maintenance, and repair services on wellheads. Additionally, technical personnel will be responsible for cleaning the mooring chains of a floating production, storage, and offloading platform. The scheduled works also include conducting geological surveys, the installation of subsea pipelines, and the positioning of subsea trees on the seabed.
To this end, for the execution of these complex offshore tasks, the corporation will utilize the multipurpose support vessel Bourbon Evolution 802. This vessel features an engineering design structured for deepwater intervention and is equipped with two high-density remotely operated vehicles. Currently, nearly sixty specialized professionals are stationed on board the vessel, including technical representatives from the contracting firm.
Furthermore, this commercial agreement directly strengthens the multinational’s competitive position within the strategic environment of West Africa. The corporation maintains a historical deployment along this coastline, where it manages an active fleet of approximately 100 logistics vessels. Previous experience accumulated in the region includes various operational campaigns developed since 2021 in fields managed by the operator Tullow, previously employing the Bourbon Evolution 804 unit.
In line with these projections, the organization’s commercial management highlighted the suitability of the selected equipment to address the engineering challenges inherent in the subsea project. Karim Mebarek, the firm’s Commercial Director, stated that the contract demonstrates the corporate competence to provide integrated maritime solutions that combine complex operations and specialized local resources in their markets.
