The Norwegian Directorate of Marine Exploration granted Aker BP ASA the drilling permit for exploratory well 36/4-2, an authorization that will allow the company to move forward with new exploration activities on the Norwegian continental shelf.
The approval was issued pursuant to Section 13 of the Resource Management Regulations and is linked to production license 1153, where Aker BP acts as the project operator.
Authorization to continue offshore exploration
The granting of the permit represents a crucial administrative step before drilling operations can begin. This type of authorization is part of the regulatory process that oversees hydrocarbon exploration activities in Norwegian waters.
Likewise, the measure confirms that the project complies with the requirements established by the authorities to carry out exploratory work within the corresponding license.
Well 36/4-2 is located in an area of exploratory interest
Well 36/4-2 is part of the exploration efforts taking place in the North Sea, one of the most active energy regions in Europe and a strategic area for the Norwegian offshore industry.
The drilling will allow for the collection of geological data and the assessment of potential resources in the subsurface. The results obtained will contribute to future decisions related to the development of new oil and gas projects in the region.
Aker BP maintains its activity on the continental shelf
Aker BP is one of Norway’s leading energy operators and is involved in numerous exploration and production licenses within the country’s continental shelf.
With this new authorization, the company expands its exploration program and continues to promote the search for resources that can strengthen the energy supply and support the development of the Norwegian offshore industry.
