DOF Group ASA secured a contract from TotalEnergies to develop subsea construction work and execute the replacement of the FSO Unity floating storage and offloading unit. The agreement includes offshore engineering, mooring system installation, and offshore operations that will extend until 2028.

The contract covers the replacement of FSO Unity

The project includes the disconnection of the FSO currently in operation and the subsequent connection of a new floating unit. As part of the scope, DOF Group ASA will be responsible for the engineering, transportation, and installation of the mooring systems necessary to ensure the operational stability of the infrastructure during its operation.

Additionally, the company will assume comprehensive project management along with the execution of subsea construction work. These activities will be supported by specialized teams and technical resources dedicated to the different phases of the offshore intervention.

DOF Will execute offshore engineering and subsea construction

The offshore engineering work will begin immediately from DOF Group ASA's offices in Aberdeen, Scotland and Bergen, Norway. From both locations, technical planning, logistics, and preparation of the operations planned for the project will be coordinated.

Subsequently, the subsea construction phase will include the installation of mooring systems and work associated with the connection of the new floating unit. These tasks are essential to ensure the continuous operation of the asset within the FSO Unity Replacement project.

Four vessels will participate in project execution

To develop the contract, DOF Group ASA will mobilize four specialized vessels that will accumulate approximately 330 days of operation. The magnitude of the deployment reflects the complexity of the planned activities and the coordination required between marine operations and subsea work.

Offshore operations will be executed during the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028, once the initial engineering and project preparation stages are completed.

The agreement is valued between $50 and $100 million

DOF Group ASA classified the award as a large-scale contract within its corporate categories, corresponding to agreements with a value between $50 and $100 million.

The company's Chief Executive Officer, Mons S. Aase, noted that this project strengthens DOF Group ASA's contract portfolio and consolidates the commercial relationship with TotalEnergies. He also highlighted the company's experience in subsea construction projects and mooring systems developed for the offshore industry.

DOF Group ASA expands its presence in offshore projects

With this award, DOF Group ASA increases its participation in projects linked to floating infrastructure for the energy industry. The company combines offshore engineering services, subsea construction, and a specialized fleet to execute complex operations in marine environments.

For its part, TotalEnergies continues advancing with the FSO Unity replacement project through a strategy that integrates engineering, marine logistics, and subsea work. The new contract allows DOF Group ASA to expand its backlog and strengthen its position within the international offshore services market.

With this incorporation, the company expands its capabilities to serve the energy sector and strengthens the services it offers to its clients in engineering projects.

The company will integrate SynergenOG with Longitude, its design and engineering division. This union will enable the creation of a technical center specialized in process safety and risk management that will support projects from the design stage through operation and the closure of their lifecycle. The objective is to improve safety, optimize costs, and enhance the performance of energy assets.

EGL2 sets a precedent with 100% recycled copper

The Eastern Green Link 2 project will incorporate high-voltage subsea cables manufactured with 100% recycled copper supplied by La Farga and used by Prysmian. The initiative will connect Scotland with northern England through a 505-kilometer network with 2 GW capacity that will be able to transport sufficient electricity to supply approximately two million homes. The project is developed by National Grid Electricity Transmission and SSEN Transmission.

The solution will use approximately 10,000 tons of recycled copper with traceability certified through an Environmental Product Declaration. This certification guarantees that the recycled material is present in its entirety within the cables manufactured for EGL2. According to project estimates, this decision will prevent approximately 56,675 tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions and reduce Prysmian's carbon footprint related to this infrastructure by 13%.

TotalEnergies sells stake in Malaysian gas

TotalEnergies agreed to the sale to INPEX of its 85% stake in Block 2E off the coast of Malaysia. The transaction includes an 8.5% net interest in the Marjoram gas field, which is under development, for a value of $350 million. With this decision, the company monetizes its investment in a project where it was not the operator.

The company explained that the sale is part of its strategy to concentrate resources on projects under its operation and on growth opportunities within Malaysia. TotalEnergies maintains a significant presence in the country, where it has established itself as one of the main gas producers and continues to expand its portfolio with initiatives related to renewable energy and carbon storage.
