DOF Group ASA has secured a contract from TotalEnergies to execute subsea construction, mooring, and disconnection works for an existing FSO and the connection of a replacement unit within the FSO Unity Replacement project.

The contract was awarded to DOF’s Atlantic region and covers critical activities for offshore operations, including engineering, transport, and installation of mooring systems, as well as associated subsea works.

Technical scope of the FSO Unity Replacement contract

According to corporate information, the project involves the disconnection of an existing floating storage and offloading unit, known as an FSO, and the subsequent connection of the replacement FSO.

Additionally, the company will undertake the engineering and installation of the mooring systems, a crucial part of ensuring the operational stability of the floating unit throughout its service life.

Furthermore, the scope integrates project management, offshore engineering, and offshore execution, supported by the company’s fleet and specialized teams with experience in subsea construction.

Four vessels and 330 days of offshore operation

For the execution of the contract, the company will deploy four vessels, with an estimated load of approximately 330 vessel days. This figure reflects the project’s operational magnitude and the level of coordination required between engineering, marine logistics, and subsea installation.

The offshore phase is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027 and the first quarter of 2028; meanwhile, project management and engineering activities will begin immediately from DOF’s offices in Aberdeen, Scotland, and Bergen, Norway.

A contract worth up to 100 million dollars

The company classifies this agreement as a large contract; under its own definition, this category corresponds to contracts with a value between $50 million and $100 million.

Mons S. Aase, CEO of DOF Group ASA, highlighted that the contract strengthens the company’s project portfolio and reinforces its relationship with TotalEnergies. He also emphasized DOF’s experience in complex mooring and subsea construction projects executed safely and efficiently.

DOF strengthens its subsea activity in the Atlantic region

The award strengthens DOF’s image in integrated offshore services for the energy industry; the company combines specialized vessels, engineering, and marine execution to handle subsea construction projects, mooring system installation, and operations associated with floating assets.

For its part, TotalEnergies is moving forward with the FSO Unity Replacement Project, an initiative that requires technical coordination between subsea works, maritime logistics, and floating infrastructure connection.

With this contract, DOF adds a new significant project to its backlog and expands its participation in offshore operations linked to floating storage and offloading units.
