XtremeX Mining Technology ( XMT ), known for its leadership in innovative drilling solutions, is introducing its new hybrid drilling rig. This advanced system, which combines electric power with automated controls, offers a faster and safer solution for searching for minerals for future mining projects.

The presentation of the new hybrid drilling rig

The rig has been tested and will be deployed at the Santa Cruz project, a major copper deposit located in Arizona, in collaboration with Ivanhoe Electric. This field test will allow the rig’s ability to reach depths of up to 2,000 meters to be evaluated, replicating historical drilling to identify critical minerals.

The field trial is just the start of a strategic collaboration between XMT , Ivanhoe Electric and GoGreen Partners . Ivanhoe Electric is renowned for its innovation in mineral exploration and will have exclusive rights to three XMT hybrid drilling rigs for the next five years. This agreement marks a milestone in the mining industry, where demand for more efficient and sustainable solutions is constantly growing.

According to XMT CEO Matt Porter, the new rig represents a new approach to mineral drilling. Porter explained that the hybrid system combines the best of energy sector drilling technology with the adaptability required by modern mining.

Drilling technology: faster and more efficient

XMT’s hybrid rig utilizes a unique integration of diamond core drilling and rotary drilling, enabling more accurate and higher fidelity samples. Additionally, its automated design reduces drilling times and operating costs, enabling mining companies to explore more efficiently and profitably.

GoGreen Partners , along with Precision Drilling and other strategic partners, will support the manufacturing and deployment of the platform. According to John Dowd, CEO of GoGreen, “ XMT’s drilling technology not only addresses today’s mining challenges, but also anticipates the needs of the future. In a world that demands more critical minerals for the energy transition, we need tools that allow us to explore faster and safer. ”.

Mining critical minerals, essential for clean energy and sustainable technologies, has become a global priority. XMT’s advancement in hybrid drilling comes at an important time when the renewable energy and electric vehicle industries require a stable source of key metals such as copper, lithium and nickel.
