This decision will allow the French Navy to obtain its first sovereign capability for exploration and surveillance of ultra-deep waters, a vital feature of the “France 2030 plan”, which seeks to guarantee the country’s maritime sovereignty.

“We are honoured by the French government’s confidence. This project strengthens national sovereignty in deep-sea warfare and enables the French Navy to implement its defence strategy.”

Jérome Bendell, Managing Director of Exail’s Maritime Division.

The new AUV, based on the Ulyx architecture, a model previously developed by Exail and Ifremer , will be used in seabed surveillance missions, as well as in the protection of infrastructure , submarine cables and other state property. The technology will allow France to expand its monitoring capabilities, contributing to the security of its strategic interests.

This AUV is part of the strategic plan ” France 2030 ” which includes three pillars: ” know “, ” monitor ” and ” act “. The Exail company will contribute its advanced technology and innovative elements, such as the Phins inertial navigation system and acoustic sensors , ensuring the effectiveness of underwater reconnaissance missions.
