Avangrid , part of the Iberdrola Group, has completed the installation of 105,000 solar modules at its first solar project in California, called ” Camino Solar.” This progress marks Avangrid’s expansion into the renewable energy sector in the United States.

Avangrid’s Solar Path project

The Camino Solar project is located adjacent to the 189 MW Manzana Wind Farm , one of Avangrid’s flagship installations in California since 2012. With the addition of this solar farm, Avangrid is strengthening its renewable energy portfolio in the state, which includes more than 500 MW of wind capacity across six projects, from San Diego to the Bay Area.

Pedro Azagra, CEO of Avangrid , expressed his enthusiasm for the progress of the project: “We are moving into the next phase of construction at Camino Solar. This project contributes to reducing emissions, while boosting the local economy by creating jobs and generating tax revenue. “. With a capacity of 44 MWac ( 57 MWdc ), Camino Solar will supply energy equivalent to the consumption of approximately 14,000 American homes.

In addition, this energy project is generating around 100 jobs, of which the majority are local workers. In addition, it is estimated that over the life of the park it will contribute approximately 15 million dollars in state and local taxes. At the same time, the Avangrid team continues to advance the electrical infrastructure phases and other systems.

Avangrid’s parent company, Iberdrola, continues to lead the global energy transition, contributing to a low-carbon economy and promoting sustainability. This project in California underlines Avangrid and Iberdrola’s commitment to expanding solar energy and creating socio-economic benefits for local communities.
