Monopile manufacturing for the Norfolk Vanguard West offshore wind farm is now underway. Haizea Wind Group has started production of these large foundations at its plant in the Port of Bilbao, where it celebrated the project's launch with a sheet-cutting ceremony alongside members of the development team.

Furthermore, the contract represents a new step for the company in the offshore wind energy market , as it strengthens the activity of facilities specializing in large-format components for state-of-the-art wind turbines.

Norfolk Vanguard West will expand the UK's wind power

The Norfolk Vanguard West offshore wind farm will have a planned capacity of 1.4 GW . It is part of a joint development with Norfolk Vanguard East, and together they will reach an estimated installed capacity of 2.8 GW when operational.

The monopiles manufactured by Haizea form the structural base on which wind turbines are installed. These foundations are anchored to the seabed to support increasingly larger and more powerful turbines, a trend that marks the evolution of the offshore industry.

Bilbao consolidates its role as a monopile manufacturing center

Furthermore, this is the third major consecutive contract that Haizea has developed at its monopile plant in the Port of Bilbao since its launch in 2024.

Previously, the company manufactured components for East Anglia 3, a project promoted by Scottish Power, a subsidiary of Iberdrola. It is currently also continuing production for the Hornsea 3 complex, developed by the Danish group Ørsted.

The continuation of these projects maintains a high workload for the Biscayan plant and consolidates its role within the European offshore wind energy supply chain .

Haizea reinforces its commitment to large-scale monopiles

Thanks to the expansion of its facilities in Bilbao, Haizea has specialized in the manufacture of monopiles for wind turbines exceeding 15 MW. The company also has the technological capacity to produce foundations compatible with turbines exceeding 20 MW.

This specialization responds to the growing demand of the sector, which seeks to increase electricity production through larger wind turbines and reduce the number of structures needed in each offshore wind farm.

The company maintains its growth despite the market context

While the wind energy sector faces a scenario marked by international uncertainty, competitive pressure from Asian manufacturers and supply chain volatility, Haizea states that it continues to move forward according to its strategic plan.

The company maintains a workforce of around 1,500 professionals and argues that its adaptability and operational strength allow it to preserve its industrial activity and reinforce its presence in international markets.

During the presentation of the project, the CEO of Haizea Wind Group , Borja Zárraga, highlighted that the company aspires to continue playing a relevant role in European energy and industrial autonomy by manufacturing large components for the new generation of offshore wind farms.

FSO PTSC LDV is getting closer to operating in Vietnam

Yinson Production held the christening ceremony for the FSO PTSC Lac Da Vang , a storage and offloading vessel destined for the Lac Da Vang field off the coast of Vietnam. The project is now entering its final stage before the start of operations, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The vessel was developed for Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil and has an initial 10-year contract with the option to extend for up to five more years.

The vessel was built with a double hull and has the capacity to store approximately 500,000 barrels of oil. It also incorporates a dual-fuel system designed to improve efficiency and reduce emissions during operation. Following its launch at a shipyard in China, the project continues with the outfitting, testing, and commissioning phases before arriving at the oil field.

Oklo secures fuel for its Aurora reactors

Oklo and Centrus signed a letter of intent to secure the supply of high-purity, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) to fuel up to five Aurora nuclear power plants in southern Ohio. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2029 and will support the development of a power complex with a projected capacity of 1.2 GW. The agreement also aims to provide greater certainty regarding the supply of fuel that remains limited for the next generation of nuclear reactors.

The fuel will be produced at Centrus's Ohio plant, and the future contract includes the possibility of advance payments from Oklo to strengthen the supply chain. The project brings together companies from various sectors to drive the construction of the power plants and anticipates the creation of hundreds of jobs during the construction phase, as well as permanent positions once the facilities are operational.

Gennaker adds a new partner to move forward

Skyborn Renewables and Stadtwerke München have reached an agreement to jointly develop the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. As part of the partnership, Stadtwerke München will acquire a 25% stake in the project once financing is secured and the necessary permits are obtained. The project envisions a capacity of up to 976.5 MW, enough to supply renewable electricity to approximately one million homes annually.

The addition of the new partner follows the power purchase agreement signed with Amazon and strengthens the next stage of the project before construction begins. Gennaker will be the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea and is part of Skyborn's strategy to expand renewable energy generation through large-scale, long-term operational projects.

ADNOC launches AI-powered offshore platform

ADNOC Drilling has commissioned the AD-300 , an artificial island drilling rig equipped with artificial intelligence and automation, which was delivered nearly three months ahead of schedule. The unit is part of a program of six rigs designed to bolster ADNOC's offshore operations and support increased production capacity in the United Arab Emirates. Its commissioning will also allow for an earlier start to operations and revenue generation.

The AD-300 incorporates automated systems for pipeline management, real-time monitoring, and predictive maintenance using artificial intelligence. It can also move between wells without dismantling and utilizes a hybrid power system with grid connection capability to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions. The remaining platforms in the program will be phased in through 2027.
