Jinhui Shipping and Transportation Limited, one of Hong Kong’s leading shipping companies, has announced the sale of Jin Shun, one of its oldest Supramax freighters , in a transaction valued at USD 8.26 million. The sale marks the company’s first such transaction in over a year.

Jin Shun Sale Details

The ship, with a deadweight of 53,350 tons and built in 2007, will be delivered between April 20 and May 31, 2025, to its new owner, Yuhe Shipping Limited, a company also registered in Hong Kong. This sale is part of Jinhui Shipping’s strategy to optimize its fleet and strengthen its financial position.

The agreed price for the sale of the Jin Shun is the result of a comprehensive market valuation conducted by Arrow Valuations, an independent valuer, and was based on recent transactions for vessels of similar size and age. The decision to sell this cargo vessel aligns with Jinhui Shipping’s strategy of maintaining a modern and profitable fleet while adjusting its asset profile.

Financial impact and use of funds

Although the sale of the Jin Shun will result in an estimated accounting loss of USD 2.5 million, the proceeds will be used to strengthen the company’s liquidity position . The company continues to evaluate other opportunities in the vessel purchase and sale market to ensure its fleet remains competitive in a challenging global marketplace.

Jinhui Shipping currently has a diversified fleet of 34 vessels, including 26 owned and 8 chartered vessels, with a total cargo capacity of approximately 2.5 million metric tons.

The sale of this Supramax will allow Jinhui Shipping to reduce the average age of its fleet and improve operational flexibility, remaining competitive in the dry bulk carrier market. The company continues to seek chartering options and acquire more modern vessels to replace older ones.
