At the AMPP 2025 event , David Hunter, Segment Development Manager for Protective Coatings at Hempel A/S , highlighted how the company distinguishes itself through technological innovation and its commitment to charitable causes, aimed at supporting education and biodiversity initiatives.
Corrosion protection and coatings from Hempel A/S
Among its most recent developments is an insulating coating that solves one of the most common problems in the industry: corrosion under insulation . This coating prevents corrosion and provides excellent thermal performance, contributing to energy savings and reducing CO₂ emissions.
This coating eliminates the need for conventional insulation, prevents corrosion under insulation, and improves thermal performance, resulting in significant energy savings and a reduction in CO₂ emissions.
Hunter mentioned.
Furthermore, Hempel is committed to the sustainability of its raw materials . The company works closely with its suppliers to ensure that materials are less hazardous and come from sustainable sources.
For example, it has launched the zinc-based Avantgarde epoxy coating , which has exceeded all performance expectations, offering exceptional corrosion protection. As Hunter emphasizes, durability is essential for a truly sustainable solution, as it contributes to long-term resource savings.
The success story in Malaysia
Hunter also shared a real-life example of how the company has implemented its innovative solutions in a recent project with a major oil company in Malaysia. In this project, Hempel applied its insulation coating to a heat exchanger , comparing it to commercially available insulation. After one year of use, the product outperformed conventional insulation by 50%, achieving energy savings and solving the recurring problem of corrosion under insulation.
