Helix Robotics Solutions , the robotics unit of Helix Energy Solutions Group , has been selected by Seaway7 to carry out the burying of the interconnected cables at the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm , owned by Ørsted . This project is located 120 km off the coast of Norfolk (United Kingdom), representing a step forward in the expansion of renewable energies.
The Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm contract
The agreement is estimated to last for more than 300 days beginning in Q3 2026 and involves the excavation and burying of 192 interconnected cables totaling approximately 500 km in length. To perform this task, Helix Robotics Solutions will deploy its Grand Canyon III support vessel , equipped with the T1500 jet trencher and i-Trencher trenching system , as well as a work-class remote-controlled vehicle.
Operations will be managed from Helix’s Aberdeen offices and will include surveying and survey support services. The integration of advanced technology and experience in subsea intervention strengthens Helix’s position as a benchmark in the sector.
The Hornsea 3 wind farm is part of a series of projects aimed at increasing renewable generation capacity in the UK, consolidating its leadership in the global energy transition. Helix’s involvement in this project underlines its role in the offshore services industry, with specialist technology for deepwater operations.
