NKT has begun expanding its factory for the production of electric cables in Asnaes, Denmark, a key step to strengthen its production capacity and respond to the growth in demand for energy infrastructure. This project seeks to support the ecological transition and electrification throughout Europe, at a time when demand for electric cables for critical networks continues to increase.
New NKT expansion boosts cable production
The groundbreaking ceremony for this expansion took place on Monday, September 30 , with the presence of NKT executives and employees, as well as other special guests. The investment in the Asnaes plant includes the construction of new production and testing facilities, with the hiring of approximately 100 new employees.
With the expansion, the company will strengthen its production of medium-voltage cables, which are crucial for the renewal of power grids and the integration of renewable energies . According to Claes Westerlind, CEO of NKT, the expansion will allow the company to continue to be a key partner in the development of modern and robust power grids.
NKT also has strong roots in Denmark, where it has been producing cables since 1891. Carlos Fernández, executive vice president of the low and medium voltage cables unit, stressed that the expansion in Asnaes underlines the importance of local production for the company.
This expansion is expected to be completed in 2026 , allowing NKT to remain a leader in electrical wiring solutions in Europe, maintaining its position in the competitive electrification market.
