Eni and SERI Industrial have announced an agreement that will explore the creation of a value chain in lithium iron phosphate batteries, targeting energy storage and electric mobility applications in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Eni and SERI Industrial promote battery recycling
The collaboration between Eni and SERI Industrial involves the construction of a production plant in Brindisi. This site will integrate a production line for active materials and another dedicated to battery recycling , a vital aspect for sustainability and the reuse of energy resources. This infrastructure will work in conjunction with a facility of FIB , a subsidiary of SERI Industrial, located in Caserta, strengthening the commitment of both companies to the circular economy.
The companies will jointly manage research and development activities, as well as procurement and marketing, from the plant in Caserta. This joint effort aims to address the needs of stationary energy storage in the electricity grid, thus promoting the deployment of clean energy in the country.
The strategic alliance between Eni and SERI Industrial will strengthen the position of both in the battery market and boost industrial development in southern Italy, aligning with the decarbonisation and sustainability objectives promoted by both companies. Once all the conditions have been finalised and assessed, the agreement could evolve into a binding phase, thus consolidating an infrastructure within the framework of the energy transition.
