Siemens Energy will equip two Petrobras FPSOs in Brazil with power generation and gas compression systems for the Sergipe-Alagoas development. It will also participate in Petrobras’ offshore expansion in Brazil by supplying equipment for the P-81 and P-87 FPSOs, two units that will operate in the Sergipe-Alagoas deepwater development.
The company was selected by SBM Offshore to provide the power generation and gas compression systems for both platforms. The equipment will be used for processing, exporting, and reinjecting the gas produced during operations.
Siemens Energy will supply 16 modules for the FPSOs
Specifically, Siemens Energy it will deliver 16 equipment modules, distributed in eight units for each FPSO. The package includes gas turbine-driven generators that will provide power to the facilities during offshore operations.
In addition, the supply incorporates gas turbine-driven compressor trains to process and export the hydrocarbon; electric compressors will also be installed for gas reinjection.
In this way, the systems will be integrated into two of the main production units planned by Petrobras for Sergipe-Alagoas.
Most of this equipment will be assembled at Siemens Energy’s facilities in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, Brazil, this strategy will help the supply meet the project’s local content requirements.
The first delivery to SBM Offshore is scheduled for the end of 2027, and the remaining packages will be delivered throughout 2028.
The FPSOs P-81 and P-87 will produce up to 240,000 barrels per day
On the other hand, P-81 and P-87 are being developed for the SEAP I and SEAP II projects; together, both FPSOs will be designed to achieve a production of up to 240,000 barrels per day of oil.
The facilities will also be able to process approximately 22 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. This capacity makes the units central components of Petrobras’ offshore development off the Brazilian coast.
The size of the projects also poses particular demands for technology providers.
The offshore market is evolving towards increasingly customized and large-scale projects, where delivery times and execution are as crucial as the technology itself.

Sergipe-Alagoas will expand Petrobras’ offshore production
Likewise, the Sergipe-Alagoas deepwater development includes specific infrastructure to transport the associated gas from the FPSOs to shore.
