Ocean Installer Awarded TotalEnergies Contract for Decommissioning

The offshore decommissioning project for TotalEnergies includes the recovery of subsea infrastructure in the North Sea.
Ocean Installer desarrollará para TotalEnergies un proyecto de desmantelamiento offshore

Ocean Installer has secured a major contract from TotalEnergies to execute decommissioning work at the Byggve, Skirne and Atla fields, located in the North Sea.

The project includes engineering services, dredging operations, recovery of subsea infrastructure, and transportation of equipment to shore for final disposal, with an offshore campaign scheduled for 2027.

The award strengthens the collaboration between both companies and consolidates Ocean Installer’s position in a market that continues to gain relevance as numerous offshore installations reach the end of their operational life.

Recovery of Nearly 1,000 Tons of Subsea Infrastructure

The scope of the contract includes the recovery of approximately 1,000 tons of subsea structures and pipelines, in addition to extensive dredging work necessary to safely remove assets installed on the seabed.

Once recovered, the materials will be transported to onshore facilities where the majority of components will be destined for recycling or reuse processes, contributing to reducing the environmental impact associated with the decommissioning of oil infrastructure.

Engineering and Execution for Safe Closure of Offshore Assets

The activities encompass all phases necessary to complete the removal of subsea infrastructure, from engineering planning to execution of operations at sea.

This type of project requires specialized technical coordination to ensure operational safety during equipment extraction, as well as compliance with applicable environmental regulations in the North Sea.

Ocean Installer Strengthens Its Presence in the Decommissioning Market

For Ocean Installer, the contract represents a new step within its growth strategy in the offshore decommissioning segment (decommissioning offshore), an activity that is gaining prominence as the number of installations reaching the end of their productive cycle increases.

Kevin Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Installer, stated that this new project allows the company to expand its experience in decommissioning work by applying the engineering capabilities, project execution, and offshore operations that characterize its core activity.
