The Naftogaz Group has directly reserved long-term regasification capacity at the Klaipėda terminal, located in Lithuania. This award, managed by the operator KN Energies, guarantees the Ukrainian operator preferential access to the infrastructure for an eleven-year period starting in 2033 and running through 2044.

Regarding the selection process, Ukraine’s state corporation successfully completed the public allocation procedure alongside four other highly relevant international firms in the sector. The entities that obtained the corresponding rights along with Naftogaz are Equinor, Ignitis, Latvenergo, and Gasum.
Consequently, this commercial agreement provides the nation with greater independence from its traditional routes and expands its options in energy planning. The direct reservation positions the company in the global market, replacing the brokered operations it previously carried out in collaboration with international corporations.
Likewise, company authorities emphasize that these infrastructure decisions are critical to strengthening the resilience of electricity and heat supply across the territory. Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi has stated that the partnership with Lithuanian counterparts consolidates an advanced phase of cooperation aimed at mitigating logistical vulnerabilities within the current geopolitical context.
In this regard, securing physical capacity in the Baltic operates as a structural protection mechanism against disruptions associated with the ongoing armed conflict. Likewise, the measure aligns precisely with storage and distribution policies coordinated with the European Union.
Finally, future procurement of liquefied natural gas diversifies import channels and optimizes long-term acquisition costs. The technical and contractual viability obtained strengthens the company’s commercial position in the European cross-border environment.
