Regulatory authorities granted the necessary permits to MOL Group to begin reconstruction activities at the Olefin-1 petrochemical plant, located in Hungary. Consequently, the technical team proceeded to eliminate immediate risks after the official investigation into the incident that occurred on May 22 was concluded. In this way, current activities are focused on the safe removal of remaining hydrocarbons from the affected facilities.

Regarding logistical planning, the initial work includes a thorough cleanup of the area, the installation of scaffolding, and the comprehensive structural assessment of the piping, steel supports, and reinforced concrete.

Subsequently, specialists will dismantle the damaged components to simultaneously begin procuring the new replacement industrial equipment. Therefore, the corporation will determine the final duration of the work more precisely once these engineering audits are completed.

In this regard, preliminary technical estimates project that restoring operations of the petrochemical unit will require several months of continuous work. Likewise, the company confirmed that the other plants belonging to MOL Petrochemicals continue to operate according to pre-established schedules, with no changes in their technical performance.

Due to the company’s strategic planning, fuel supply in the Hungarian market remains fully guaranteed and has not experienced interruptions as a result of the contingency. Finally, corporate management reported that the workers injured during the incident are showing favorable progress in their health condition, although they remain hospitalized in medical centers where they are receiving comprehensive care.
