Expro signed a new contract extension for up to five years with a global operator to continue providing subsea completion and intervention services in the Gulf of Mexico. The agreement reinforces a collaboration that has spanned over two decades.
The extension includes the deployment of Solus™, one of Expro’s latest technologies for subsea well access.
The solution was designed to increase safety, reliability, and integrity during operations in demanding offshore environments.
Solus™ Enhances Subsea Safety
It is a cut-and-seal valve developed for subsea well access operations. The technology allows for cut and seal functions in a single valve, reducing complexity compared to conventional configurations that require two valves.
According to Expro, the system offers bidirectional sealing for liquids and gases, even after pumping operations, and can operate on slickline, braided electric line, and coiled tubing. It also features a modular design for well isolation and disconnection.
The technology had already been deployed in a riser completion development in the Gulf of Mexico and in an open-water intervention system for a well abandonment campaign in the North Sea.
Subsea Well Access Services
Under the new contract, Expro will provide subsea landing string services, leveraging its expertise in subsea well access in the North and Latin American regions.
These systems enable safe and efficient well completion and intervention activities, offering flexibility to respond to changing operational needs of the client.
The company highlighted that the contract extension demonstrates the global operator’s confidence in its subsea capabilities and its track record of delivering offshore services for over 20 years.
Contract Strengthens Regional Presence
Daniel More, Expro’s Vice President of Subsea Well Access, noted that the contract reflects the strength of the long-term relationship with the global operator and confidence in the company’s subsea solutions.
The executive emphasized that Expro will continue to support the client’s projects in the Gulf of Mexico with safe, reliable, and efficient services. The company believes that the deployment of Solus™ confirms its commitment to introducing new technologies for subsea operations.
Offshore Energy reported that the contract extension is valued at approximately $25 million, reinforcing the continuity of the collaboration between Expro and the operator.
Technology for Complex Offshore Operations
The adoption of Solus™ responds to the need to increase safety and efficiency in more complex subsea operations. Its compact and modular design aligns with the industry trend towards lighter configurations and more flexible well access systems.
By integrating this technology into completion and intervention services, Expro aims to reduce operational risks, simplify the supply chain, and maintain reliable safety barriers throughout the well’s lifecycle.
With this extension, Expro consolidates its position in the Gulf of Mexico subsea market and strengthens its technological offering for demanding offshore wells.
