The Brazilian firm Orizon Valorização de Resíduos has selected Sener to provide engineering services for the first waste-to-energy plant in Latin America. The URE Barueri plant is a key advance in the region’s circular economy model. Instead of sending the solid waste of about 850,000 inhabitants to landfills, it will be processed to generate renewable energy. The facility will be able to process up to 870 tons of waste per day, operating for almost 340 days per year, which will significantly reduce the environmental impact.
Sener consolidates leadership with the valorization plant
The plant’s design includes an advanced gas treatment system that complies with the strictest emission regulations. In addition, it will have a 20 MW turbine that will provide constant and predictable power, which will contribute to the stability of the local power grid.
