The company Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) agreed to acquire a 50% stake in the Norwegian company OffshoreCrew, focused on the recruitment and management of crews for the offshore sector. This transaction will enable the maritime group to expand its portfolio of specialized services across both the shipping segment and the industrial market.
Expanding operational capabilities and offshore services
The Scandinavian firm OffshoreCrew, based in Kristiansand, provides a robust infrastructure for personnel selection and staffing for the oil, gas, offshore wind, and subsea operations industries. The company also has a database of nearly 30,000 qualified professionals in the sector.
Likewise, the agreement will expand BSM’s capabilities beyond its traditional models of technical management and end-to-end personnel management. The initiative will enable the direct supply of specialists, including heavy-lift crane operators and dynamic positioning technicians, to meet the specific requirements of various maritime units.
In this regard, the operating plan integrates OffshoreCrew’s recruitment and personnel assignment channels with BSM’s international logistics network. The stake will facilitate the delivery of global solutions, from sourcing individual professionals to full technical management contracts.
In this context, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement CEO Sebastian von Hardenberg said that bringing in OffshoreCrew’s specialized talent will increase responsiveness and organizational flexibility to meet current maritime markets demands.
Meanwhile, OffshoreCrew CEO and Managing Director Javier Zahn noted that the partnership with BSM provides the ideal strategic position to internationalize its services and reach a broader client base. Globally, BSM manages a fleet of 700 vessels, supported by a team of 40,000 seafarers and 2,000 shore-based employees.
