Bimergen EnergyIt completed the sale of a portfolio of battery storage projects in Texas that includes revenues of US$8.9 million and a 7.5% equity stake.

The company received US$6.4 million in cash

Bimergen Energy Corporation reported that it has already received US$6.4 million in cash after closing the transaction related to the Redbird BESS project and two Texas 10s facilities.

In addition, the company expects to receive another US$2.5 million when Redbird meets the established goals within the platform. Frontier Power & Utilities to advance to its operational phase.

The total consideration also includes a 7.5% stake in the projects; this structure allows Bimergen to obtain immediate liquidity and maintain exposure to the future performance of the assets.

The portfolio reaches a capacity of 480 MWh

The Redbird project has a capacity of 100 MW and 400 MWh, is located on the outskirts of Houston, and is part of a portfolio that includes two other projects in Texas with an additional 80 MWh.

In total, the assets amount to 480 MWh within the electricity market managed by ERCOT; the transaction was closed with FPU-BEC Development Topco, an entity linked to Cerberus Capital Management y Frontier Power & Utilities.

Likewise, the projects plan to use long-life Z3 batteries developed byEos Energy EnterprisesThis technology is designed to store electricity for several hours and deliver it when the network requires greater capacity.

The revenue model depends on energy arbitrage.

Storage projects will generate revenue primarily by purchasing electricity during periods of low prices and then selling it back to the grid when rates increase.

This mechanism, known as energy arbitrage, allows companies to take advantage of daily fluctuations in the electricity market. It can also provide flexibility to the system during periods of high demand or lower generation availability.

However, economic performance will depend on factors such as price volatility, battery operating frequency, and Redbird’s achievement of outstanding targets.

Bimergen retains a stake in the projects

Cole Johnson, co-CEO of Bimergen Energy, noted that the structure provides immediate resources while maintaining a portion of the portfolio’s economic potential.

The company retains a 7.5% stake in the projects and expects to benefit from their development during construction and commercial operation.

Bimergen develops battery energy storage systems and solar projects in the United States, their strategy focuses on creating network-scale assets and partnering with institutional capital providers to finance their development.

The assets will support the stability of the Texas grid.

Batteries can store surplus electricity and release it when demand increases; this capacity helps to balance the grid and facilitates the incorporation of solar and wind power generation.

In the ERCOT market, where prices can fluctuate rapidly, the BESS systems they also offer a tool to respond to changes in supply and demand.

Bimergen’s portfolio combines financial liquidity, storage capacity, and equity participation, the next step will depend on Redbird’s progress toward becoming an operating asset and the fulfillment of the conditions associated with the remaining payment.
