It was recently confirmed that Assala Gabon has formally initiated the production phase at the Grand N’Gongui field (GNG). This event represents the conclusion of a technical evaluation cycle to give way to a large-scale operational deployment in the region.
Commercial Startup of the Grand N’Gongui Field
Indeed, the success of this startup is founded on the NG-3 well drilled a couple of years ago. The geological structure of the area reveals an oil column up to 15 meters thick within the well-known Gamba Formation.
Technical estimates are conclusive in indicating an initial volume of 350 million barrels. Under a phased development strategy, the company projects achieving a maximum extraction of at least 10,000 barrels per day to optimize the reservoir’s useful life.
The engineering teams have managed to complete the infrastructure in just one year of intensive work. During this period, procurement, design, and construction activities were managed simultaneously.
On the other hand, logistics required the movement of international supplies and the application of specific methods for pipeline installation in lagoon terrain. Likewise, customized solutions were implemented to overcome the global supply chain constraints that recently affected the sector.
Finally, the vision of Edgar Mba Ognane, head of the operator, points to Grand N’Gongui consolidating the company’s experience in onshore assets. The work plan contemplates the drilling of 60 additional wells already authorized by regulatory agencies.
