Amplitude Energy Limited (ASX: AEL) officially confirmed it has obtained production license VIC/L37 for the offshore Annie discovery, located off the coast of Australia.
The company has obtained production license VIC/L37, covering the Annie field, first discovered in 2019. This allows Amplitude Energy to proceed with development activities for the field, with first gas production scheduled for 2028.
The company highlighted that timely regulatory approvals and regulatory stability are fundamental factors for the development of long-term energy projects.
Production for Local Energy Consumption
According to Amplitude Energy, all gas produced at Annie will be allocated to the Australian east coast domestic market, contributing to the local energy supply for Australian consumers.
The approval represents a significant advancement within the company’s offshore portfolio and reinforces the continuity of investments in energy infrastructure in Australia.
«Timely approvals and regulatory certainty for oil and gas projects remain critical, given the duration of the investment cycle required. All gas produced at Annie is expected to be supplied to the east coast domestic market for Australian consumers,» the company stated.
Annie and Manta: Fields to be Exploited.
The Australian company has an extensive portfolio of exploration and development projects in the Otway and Gippsland Basins, including discovered but undeveloped resources such as the Annie and Manta gas fields, located near its current infrastructure.
The Otway offshore gas fields and their facilities are located approximately 30 kilometers off the coast of Port Campbell, at a depth of 60 to 70 meters.
Gas production began in 2006 at the Casino field, and in later phases, additional fields were integrated into the Casino, Henry, Netherby (CHN) pipeline to supply the domestic market.
Major Future Developments
The Annie production license comes months after Amplitude reported preliminary drilling and logging data from the Elanora-1 exploration well, with no elevated gas readings in the primary target reservoir, Waarre A.
Amplitude Energy, formerly Cooper Energy, has obtained production license VIC/L37 for the offshore Annie gas field, located in the Otway Basin, Australia.
The project is part of its extensive Otway Basin portfolio, which includes the offshore Casino, Henry, and Netherby gas fields, and the Athena onshore gas plant near Port Campbell.
The company indicated that future developments in the Otway Basin, including Annie, are expected to utilize existing offshore infrastructure and pipelines connected to the Athena gas plant.
