AGR and THF integrate engineering with AI to optimize planning, reduce operational risks and accelerate the execution of well projects.

AI Engineering promotes the new alliance between AGR y THF Engineered Solutions to optimize the well engineering processes the initiative seeks to strengthen planning, improve quality assurance, and accelerate project execution through tools capable of analyzing large volumes of technical information.

Operational experience and AI engineering to optimize wells

The collaboration combines AGR’s more than 35 years of experience in well engineering and management with WellPhase, the workflow platform based on artificial intelligence Developed by THF Engineered Solutions. Thanks to this integration, operators will be able to detect operational risks from early stages, reduce the time spent reviewing historical information, and have more consistent planning for each project.

The initiative is based on a pilot project for reviewing reference wells (offset wells), in which AGR specialists evaluated the platform’s potential to streamline technical analysis prior to the execution of new campaigns.

Lynden Duthie, general manager of AGR’s Well Management division, stated that combining the company’s operational expertise with THF’s technology will allow them to extract greater value from historical well data. He explained that this will free up time currently spent by engineers on manual processes, enabling them to focus on improving the quality of planning and the consistency of project execution.

WellPhase and ELLIS transform historical data for engineering

The technological solution incorporates WellPhase along with the ELLIS (Engineering Logic and Learning Intelligence System), designed to quickly analyze large volumes of historical well data and convert them into structured technical information for engineering teams.

In this way, engineers obtain a traceable initial review of relevant events, potential risks, and key planning considerations, facilitating more efficient decision-making during the different stages of the project.

AI seeks to reduce manual tasks in engineering

Christopher Smith, founder of THF Engineered Solutions, noted that the platform’s objective is to reduce the time engineers spend gathering and structuring information, so they can focus on applying their expertise to critical decisions related to well execution.

Furthermore, both companies believe this approach can be extended to other engineering, quality assurance, and operational processes, including regulatory compliance, well operations planning, and the management of regulatory requirements within the oil and gas industry.

An alliance that strengthens AGR’s strategy

The agreement comes a month after Shell selected AGR to supply specialized personnel for its onshore and offshore operations in Norway, strengthening the company’s presence in that market.

With this alliance, AGR and THF seek to strengthen a AI engineering model capable of accelerating the execution of well projects, improving the quality of planning, identifying operational risks early, and strengthening safety through more efficient use of available historical data.
