Wave energy advances in Los Angeles with Shell support

The permit, granted under category NWP 52, authorizes the installation of eight floats on an existing dock structure. These floats will be connected to an energy conversion unit located in the same port, which will allow electricity to be generated sustainably from the movement of the waves.

In addition, the project has the support of Shell International Exploration and Production Inc., consolidating a collaboration announced in April of this year. This agreement strengthens the development of renewable energy through innovative technologies, marking a significant step towards the energy transition in the United States .

Boosting the commercialization of wave energy

With installation planned for the first quarter of 2025, this pioneering system will generate clean energy and also open up new opportunities for the adoption of wave technology in other regions. According to estimates by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, wave energy could cover the electricity demand of 130 million homes annually, highlighting its transformative potential in the energy sector.

Inna Braverman , CEO of Eco Wave Power, highlighted that this achievement ” represents a crucial step forward in the global transition towards sustainable sources .” This project reinforces the company’s ability to lead the development and commercialization of innovative energy solutions.

The implementation of this technology positions Eco Wave Power as a global benchmark in the renewable energy industry. The Port of Los Angeles becomes a strategic point to demonstrate the impact of clean technologies on large port infrastructures.
