Spiralis Energy unveiled its latest breakthrough in renewable energy: the Axial Skelter . It is a screw-shaped tidal power generator capable of producing 500 kW of clean, predictable power. This device, nominated for the prestigious Earthshot Award, harnesses tidal currents to efficiently and sustainably generate electricity, even at speeds as low as 3 m/s.

Clean and predictable energy for 100 years

This system is manufactured from recycled plastic using local robots, which not only reduces production costs but also minimizes environmental impact. The simplicity of its design, with a single moving part, significantly reduces maintenance requirements and improves the reliability of the device.

Unlike other renewable energy sources such as wind or solar power, tidal energy is a tidal energy is highly predictable, allowing planning up to 100 years in advance. This aspect makes the Axial Skelter a baseload power plant, capable of providing constant and reliable power to the grid, operating both day and night.

Cost-effective tidal power generator

The Axial Skelter outperforms traditional tidal energy devices, which are often expensive and complex, and have failed to demonstrate scalability. Spiralis Energy offers with this product a solution that is cost-effective and safe for the oceans and promises to be a key component in the global market for this type of energy, which is projected to reach a value of $8 billion by 2035, according to market research reports.

The 6-meter prototype of the Axial Skelter is already being tested in open water and the company is seeking investors to scale production to a full range of devices by 2025. This investment opportunity promises an attractive return and contributes to the global goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions.

Advantages of the Axial Skelter

In the video shown, the company highlighted the advantages of its innovative device, which includes a sustainable and low-cost design, operational reliability with condition monitoring, and safety for marine life thanks to its rounded, bladeless sections.

The tides, predictable with an accuracy of up to six minutes, guarantee a constant source of energy, backed by 15-year government contracts that ensure exceptional rates per megawatt.
