Luxcara, a leading asset manager in the clean energy sector, has signed a significant contract with Dutch company TKF (Twentsche Kabelfabriek), a specialist in cabling and connectivity solutions . This agreement aims to supply inter-matrix submarine cables for the Waterkant offshore wind project, located in Germany’s Exclusive Economic Zone in the North Sea.
TKF inter-matrix cable contract
With a capacity of 296 MW, Waterkant will become one of the largest offshore wind farms in Germany. With 16 turbines of 18.5 MW each, the project will be completed in 2028 and is expected to provide clean energy to around 400,000 homes . This is a crucial step in Germany’s energy transition, which aims to achieve 80% renewable energy by 2030.
Under the signed contract, TKF will be responsible for the manufacture and supply of 66 kV cables connecting the turbines to Amprion’s converter platform. These cables will be produced at TKF’s state-of-the-art facility in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, with a carbon-neutral footprint , meeting the strict sustainability standards required by the project.
A commitment to sustainability
We are excited to partner with TKF, a recognized leader in cable technology, whose expertise and commitment to sustainability align perfectly with our goals. This contract is another step toward ensuring that the Waterkant project becomes a benchmark in renewable energy at the European level.
Holger Matthiesen, project manager at Luxcara, highlighted the importance of this agreement.
Walter Heerts, Managing Director of TKF Subsea Solutions, also expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. He mentioned that this contract reinforces their commitment to innovation and sustainability. He also commented that they are eager to contribute their expertise in providing cabling solutions to ensure the project’s reliability and durability.
The Waterkant project is a clear example of the growing investment in renewable energy infrastructure in Europe, and a key step toward a more sustainable energy future for Germany and the region.
