Petrobras informs that it has identified the presence of hydrocarbons in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin in Brazil, in an evaluation well in the Aram block.
The 3-BRSA-1387D-SPS well is located 260 km from the city of Santos-SP, in waters at a depth of 1,979 meters.
The well is ongoing and the oil interval has been verified by wireline logging and fluid samples, which will be further characterized by laboratory analysis. These data will make it possible to evaluate the potential and direct the next exploratory activities in the area.
The consortium will continue operations to complete the well drilling project to the expected depth and verify the extension of the new discovery, in addition to characterizing the conditions of the deposits found.
Preliminary analyzes reveal the excellent quality of the oil discovered by Petrobras in the Santos Basin
The Aram block constitutes an important asset to explore the remaining pre-salt potential, particularly in the Santos basin. In addition, the well presented an excellent quality fluid, confirming the low levels of contaminants. This discovery increases the possibilities of expansion of the accumulation discovered by the wildcat well 1-BRSA-1381-SPS, in this block.
The Aram block was acquired in March 2020, in the 6th Bid Round of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), under the Production Sharing regime, with Pre-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA) as manager. Petrobras is the operator of the block and owns an 80% interest, in partnership with CNPC (20%).
