The German North Sea will be the next location for a highly significant geotechnical investigation within the framework of the Waterekke project . Geoquip Marine, an offshore geotechnical engineering and investigation company, has been selected by Luxcara to carry out a detailed subsurface characterization campaign, aimed at supporting the design and development of this innovative offshore wind farm .
This agreement follows the successful collaboration between the two entities in 2024, when they worked together on the Waterkant project.
On geotechnical investigation
The new contract involves conducting crucial geotechnical studies that will provide data on subsurface conditions to support the planning and construction of the wind farm infrastructure. Geoquip Marine, with its expertise in offshore investigations, will provide accurate and detailed information that will facilitate decision-making during the later phases of the project.
Fieldwork is scheduled for completion in 2025, allowing Luxcara to advance the development of the Waterekke Offshore Wind Farm, one of the key projects in Europe’s transition to renewable energy.
Torran Purchase, Senior Project Manager at Geoquip Marine, commented:
We are proud to announce a multi-vessel solution for the Waterekke project, continuing our strong relationship with Luxcara through 2025. Our experienced team is committed to delivering high-quality geotechnical data, supporting critical decisions to drive the long-term success of the project.
The future of offshore renewable energy
This contract marks another important step for Geoquip Marine in its role as a leader in offshore geotechnical solutions. The company continues to be a key player in the evolution of renewable energy and the development of sustainable maritime infrastructure , supporting the expansion of offshore wind energy in the North Sea.
With the support of Luxcara, which continues to rely on Geoquip Marine’s technical capabilities, this project is expected to mark a significant step forward in consolidating offshore wind farms as a key source of renewable energy for Europe’s future.
