During the Automate Show 2024 event, the company OnRobot A/S presented two new heavy-duty electric grippers : the 3FG25 and the 2FG14, designed specifically for heavy payload cobots, expanding their capabilities in applications such as palletizing.

In the words of Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot, this expansion responds to growing customer demand for more robust collaborative applications.

Headquartered in Odense, Denmark, the company was established in 2018 following the merger of Perception Robotics , OptoForce and OnRobot and continued to expand with the acquisition of Purple Robotics and Blue Workforce in the following years. The company has positioned itself as a provider of hardware and software for collaborative applications, making it easier for small and medium-sized companies to optimize processes such as packaging, assembly and machine maintenance.

By introducing models capable of handling loads of up to 30 kg, the company responds to the trend of using industrial robotic arms in collaborative scenarios. The 3FG25 gripper is expected to be officially launched later this month, as the 2FG14 is available in North America to improve adaptability with larger, heavier workpieces.

Better handling for heavy loads

The 3FG25, a more advanced design of the popular 3FG15 gripper, is specially designed to handle cylindrical and irregularly shaped parts, even heavy metal parts, offering a payload of 25 Kg, in a compact and electric format.

For his part, The 2FG14 doubles the payload and gripping capacity of the 2FG7, providing a 30% greater total range of operations, optimizing maintenance and assembly tasks in demanding industrial environments. “The 2FG14 gripper is robust, easy to operate, and maintains OnRobot’s tradition of intuitive interfaces, making it perfect for complex packaging and assembly applications.“said Alex Pinkerton, mechanical engineer at Gosiger.
