He Vinh Long wind farm project Vietnam is making progress with the assembly of its first EN-226/8.X MW turbines in front of the province of the same name.
The 128 MW park entered a new phase of construction with the installation of the first wind turbines supplied by Envision Energy the development, promoted by REE Group, will have a total of 16 units.
According to the Chinese manufacturer, the turbines belong to the EN-226/8.X MW model, the installation also marks Envision Energy first participation in the assembly of wind turbines for an international offshore wind project.
The Vinh Long wind farm will have 16 turbines
The total capacity of 128 MW is distributed between two developments corresponding to the second stage of the project. Phase V1-3 will contribute 48 MW, while phases V1-5 and V1-6 will add another 80 MW. Both are located off the coast of Vinh Long province and will use the same turbine model.
With this configuration, the project aims to concentrate significant generation capacity using a limited number of wind turbines. Each unit of the EN-226 platform is in the 8 MW range.
The first installations were completed in a few days
Envision Energy he reported that the assembly of the first turbine was completed in less than seven days, while the second unit required less than five.
Work progressed despite the heavy rains and winds experienced during the current weather season in Vietnam, conditions that added difficulty to operations in the coastal area. Furthermore, the team had to carry out the maneuvers with limited installation resources and within a tight schedule.
Envision adapts the EN-226 to coastal conditions
From a technical point of view, Envision Energy noted that the EN-226 model was adapted to the specific characteristics of the nearshore site. The company describes this platform as a lighter turbine designed to facilitate maintenance. These features also aim to simplify assembly in coastal areas.
The manufacturer believes this configuration is particularly suitable for projects where weather conditions and equipment availability can directly influence the pace of construction.
Turbine deliveries began in June
The installation of the first units follows the start of equipment deliveries for the Vinh Long project, in June, Envision Energy shipped the first four EN-226/8.X MW turbine assemblies to Vietnam.
With the first units already assembled, the project now enters a phase focused on progressively completing the installation of the 16 wind turbines needed to reach 128 MW of capacity.
