Weco Tests Denshi Wave Energy Converter in the Netherlands

The energy autonomy offered by this wave energy system opens doors that previously remained closed for the industry.

The technology of Wave Energy Collective (Weco), the Denshi system, has initiated a critical validation phase at the Offshore Experience Centre (OEC) on the coast of the Netherlands.

Denshi Technology and Its Efficient Logistics

Through collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat, this lightweight wave energy harvester is demonstrating that it is possible to supply baseload power consistently even when sea state is minimal.

Deploying technology in open sea requires deep-draft vessels and crane systems that raise operational costs prohibitively. Denshi, however, has been designed to be launched into the water from small semi-rigid boats.

The capability for direct overboard deployment eliminates the need for complex infrastructure and enables the technology to be accessible for a much broader range of maritime applications.

By ensuring stable electrical supply in remote environments, maritime surveillance and ecological monitoring acquire a much more robust dimension.

The Weco technical team is now focused on optimizing the converter’s performance in sheltered areas, ensuring that integration into the maritime ecosystem is both efficient and sustainable for future large-scale developments.
