Vestas has confirmed the award of a 40 MW order in Germany for the Reken Hülsterholt wind project, strengthening its presence in one of Europe’s most important renewable energy markets. The contract was awarded by EnergieGemeinschaft Hülsterholt GmbH & Co. KG and BBWind Projektberatungsgesellschaft mbH, responsible for developing the initiative.
The order is part of the company’s second-quarter order backlog and includes the supply of six wind turbines along with a long-term service agreement.
Wind Technology to Strengthen German Renewable Capacity
The project will be equipped with four V172-7.2 MW turbines and two V162-5.6 MW units, a combination that will achieve a total installed capacity of 40 MW.
These solutions are part of Vestas’ technology portfolio for onshore projects and are designed to maximize energy production under different wind regimes, optimizing the operational performance of wind farms.
In addition, the company will supply an Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service contract for a period of 20 years, designed to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the wind turbines throughout their service life.
Delivery Scheduled for 2027
According to the announced schedule, turbine delivery will begin during the first quarter of 2027, while commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of the same year.
The installation will be located in the municipality of Reken, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, a region that continues to drive renewable generation projects to support national energy objectives.
Boosting the energy transition
The addition of the 40 MW from the Reken Hülsterholt project will contribute to expanding the renewable generation capacity connected to the German electrical grid. The country maintains a strategy aimed at increasing the share of wind energy within its energy mix and progressively reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Likewise, the agreement strengthens Vestas’ commercial activity in Europe and reflects the continuity of investments in wind infrastructure necessary to meet the growing demand for clean electricity.
With this new contract, the company continues to expand its presence in projects that support the continent’s decarbonization and energy security objectives.
