The operation incorporates 178 active points and 254 under development, consolidating its leadership in the Scandinavian charging market for electric vehicles
Vattenfall InCharge announced the acquisition of Nima Energy’s ultra-fast charging business in Sweden, in a strategic operation that strengthens its positioning in one of the European markets with the highest growth in electric mobility.
Although the financial terms were not disclosed, the transaction includes 178 high-power charging points already operational and a pipeline of 254 additional points in the development phase.
Vattenfall’s experience and long-term commitment
The integration will allow Vattenfall to significantly expand its coverage in key metropolitan areas such as Stockholm and Malmö, where the demand for fast-charging infrastructure continues to accelerate in parallel with the increase in the electric vehicle fleet.
Currently, Nima Energy operates stations with capacities between 300 and 400 kW in 16 locations, aimed at both private users and commercial fleets, including taxis. The company, founded in 2020, has managed to position itself in strategic high-traffic locations, which increases the value of the acquisition from an operational and logistical standpoint.
Henrik Nordström, Director of Vattenfall E-Mobility Sweden, noted that the operation responds to the growing expectation of drivers to have accessible and reliable charging points on any journey.
In that regard, he stressed that the acquisition will improve the availability of fast charging and reinforce the company’s presence in the fastest-growing segments of the Swedish market.
Nima Energy has built a solid reputation in the ultra-fast charging sector.
For his part, Fabian Hagmann, Vice President of Vattenfall’s E-mobility unit, highlighted that the integration of Nima Energy accelerates the execution of the group’s European strategy, based on the development of a scalable and profitable charging network under the InCharge brand.
With this operation, Vattenfall InCharge expands a network that already exceeds 48,500 charging points in Europe, of which approximately 7,500 are located in Sweden. The incorporation of high-power assets further reinforces its capacity to meet the growing demand for ultra-fast charging, especially in urban corridors and long-distance routes.
Vattenfall InCharge focuses on building a high-performance charging ecosystem
From Nima Energy, its CEO and co-founder, Marcus Landelin, described the acquisition as a natural step in the company’s evolution, highlighting that Vattenfall has the scale and resources necessary to take the network to the next level of development.
Integration planning will begin following the signing of the agreement, while operational integration will be executed once the closing of the transaction is completed.
This move is part of the growing competition for the deployment of charging infrastructure in Europe, where operators seek to consolidate high-capacity networks as a key element to sustain the transition toward fossil-fuel-free mobility.
