TotalEnergies has announced a significant hydrocarbon discovery in the Moho license, located off the coast of the Republic of the Congo, with the potential for rapid development thanks to the infrastructure already installed in the area.

Technical Details of the Discovery

Specifically, the discovery was achieved following the drilling of the MHNM-6 NFW exploration well, which aimed to evaluate the Moho G structure. As a result, the well identified a hydrocarbon column of approximately 160 meters in high-quality Albian reservoirs.

An extensive data acquisition and sampling campaign was also carried out to improve subsurface interpretation and facilitate the planning of the field’s future development. This discovery follows a previous find in the Moho F structure.

Operational context of the Moho field

Currently, the Moho license is operated by TotalEnergies EP Congo, with a 63.5% stake. The consortium is completed by Trident Energy and the Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo.

The area features two floating production units, Alima and Likouf, which together generate around 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, demonstrating the maturity and relevance of the asset.

Impact on TotalEnergies’ strategy

Finally, this new hydrocarbon discovery reinforces TotalEnergies’ strategy based on maximizing the value of its existing assets. The combination of technical expertise and the use of available infrastructure allows for progress toward more efficient and sustainable developments.

In this context, Congo continues to consolidate its position as a key point in the company’s offshore expansion in Africa.
