The low gas storage levels recorded this summer in Germany have reinforced the need for solutions that bring greater flexibility to the energy market. In this context, Storengy Deutschland and PRISMA European Capacity Platform announced a collaboration that will allow for the integration of LNG storage capacity procurement with regasification capacity through a single digital platform.
Currently, gas reserves in Germany stand at around 40%, a level lower than usual for this time of year, this situation keeps security of supply a priority for the sector and increases the importance of having tools that facilitate the integration of larger volumes of liquefied natural gas into the system.
A product designed for LNG importers
The initiative adds a new storage product to the PRISMA platform, specifically developed for LNG importers. This will allow those reserving regasification capacity to simultaneously contract the necessary storage capacity through a centralized and transparent process.
Likewise, the solution is geared towards importers and carriers seeking to optimize the management of their supply chains and have greater flexibility to respond to market conditions.
The product integrates gas injection, storage and extraction capabilities into a single package; technical information and commercial specifications will be available soon on both the PRISMA platform and the Storengy Storage Portal.
Greater flexibility for the German market
Gregor Wenzel, Director of Sales and Commercial Operations at Storengy Deutschland, explained that this proposal creates for the first time a direct connection between LNG import and storage within a single digital platform.
According to the executive, this integration offers customers greater security in operational planning, simplifies access to available capacity, and facilitates the efficient incorporation of import flows into the German market.
For his part, Götz Lincke, CEO of PRISMA, noted that the rapid availability of storage capacity is essential to strengthening security of supply. In his opinion, the collaboration between the two companies significantly reduces the operational time between the arrival of LNG and its storage.
An integration aligned with the evolution of the energy market
Storengy Deutschland, a subsidiary of the ENGIE Group, is one of the leading gas storage operators in Germany and develops solutions for hydrogen and renewable gas storage as part of its energy transition strategy.
The Leipzig-based PRISMA European Capacity Platform operates Europe’s leading digital marketplace for gas capacity trading, connecting companies in more than twenty European markets. From the beginning of 2026, it also offers support for hydrogen capacity trading, extending the reach of its digital infrastructure to new energy vectors.
