The company Solstad Maritime (SOMA) has confirmed a two-year extension of the service provided by its subsea support vessel, the Normand Fortress, operating under the umbrella of the state-owned Petrobras. This agreement ensures the asset’s continued presence in the region and strengthens the commercial relationship between both maritime organizations.

According to the official figures presented, they reflect the robustness of the current market. The gross value of this extension is estimated at $56 million, and the start of this new period is scheduled for the first days of July 2026.

It is essential to understand that the operating structure involves a bareboat charter between SOMA and Solstad Offshore (SOFF), with the latter being the entity that maintains the direct contractual relationship with the oil company.

Finally, the vessel’s role is decisive for operational continuity. The Normand Fortress will be specifically dedicated to providing accommodation services, thereby facilitating production activities on Brazil’s continental shelf.

These types of vessels are strategic assets in offshore logistics, and their high demand ensures prolonged visibility for the Solstad fleet in the South Atlantic. Likewise, the continuity of this asset makes it possible to optimize the resources already deployed in the area.
