Nordex strengthens wind power in Türkiye with a plant in Menemen

Nordex began manufacturing wind turbine blades in Türkiye to promote YEKA projects and exports to Europe.

The Nordex Group officially started production at its new wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in Menemen, Izmir, reinforcing its industrial strategy in Turkey and expanding its capacity to meet the growth of onshore wind energy in the region.

The facility began operations in May 2026 and is located within the Izmir Free Zone, a strategic location that will allow it to supply both the Turkish market and international projects in Europe.

A plant designed to increase wind power production

The new facility occupies approximately 130,000 square meters, of which roughly 90,000 correspond to the main production building. At full capacity, the plant will be able to manufacture up to 1,200 rotor blades per year through continuous operations on four shifts.

Likewise, the complex will generate around 1,200 jobs in production and administration, strengthening the industrial chain linked to the Turkish renewable energy sector.

Nordex confirmed that the factory will produce blades for the N163 and N175 models, wind turbines designed to operate in moderate to strong wind conditions. These turbines are part of a new generation of equipment aimed at maximizing energy output and optimizing the operational efficiency of onshore wind farms.

Production focused on YEKA projects

During the first operational stage, the plant will supply components for projects awarded within the YEKA-4 and YEKA-5 programs, promoted by the Turkish government to encourage the development of renewable energy and local content.

The Menemen location will also allow Nordex to expand its export capacity to various European markets, especially at a time when demand for wind farm components continues to grow.

José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group, highlighted that the new facility represents an important step forward for the company’s manufacturing presence in Türkiye.

The start of production in Menemen strengthens our long-term growth strategy and improves our ability to meet the local content requirements set out in the YEKA specifications.

Türkiye gains importance in Nordex’s global strategy

Turkey has become one of Nordex’s most important markets since the company began operations in the country in 2009. Since 2017, the manufacturer has maintained a share of close to 34% of the Turkish wind market, reinforcing its position as one of the leading suppliers of onshore turbines.

The new plant also strengthens the group’s international manufacturing network, which currently includes facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India and the United States.

Nordex reported that it has installed more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in more than 40 markets since 1985. By 2025, the company recorded consolidated sales of close to 7.6 billion euros and maintains a workforce of more than 11,100 employees worldwide.

With this industrial expansion in Türkiye, the company seeks to respond to the sustained growth of the energy transition and the increase in onshore wind projects in Europe and other regions.
