GE Vernova announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire the Canadian company Robotech Automation with the aim of strengthening its capabilities in industrial robotics and automation applied to manufacturing and supply chain.
The operation will allow the energy company to expand the technological capabilities of its Advanced Research Center (ARC) by incorporating robotic integration solutions, automated engineering and customized systems developed by Robotech.
Currently, both companies already collaborate on projects related to industrial automation within GE Vernova facilities in the United States, including plants located in Schenectady, New York and Charleroi, Pennsylvania.
GE Vernova strengthens its industrial automation and logistics
The acquisition is part of GE Vernova’s growth strategy focused on improving operational efficiency and strengthening industrial processes through advanced automation.
Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova, noted that Robotech brings specialized expertise in robotic integration and patented systems capable of accelerating the internal development of industrial technologies within the company.
Likewise, the company highlighted that the integration of automated capabilities seeks to optimize indicators related to safety, production quality, delivery times and cost control within its manufacturing network.
The transaction also aligns with GE Vernova’s capital allocation strategy based on strategic acquisitions and technological expansion.
Robotech brings expertise in customized robotic integration
Robotech Automation operates near Montreal, Canada and develops industrial automation solutions tailored to different production environments.
The company has approximately 35 employees specializing in the design, engineering, and integration of automated systems, supported by manufacturing partners.
Their technologies are geared towards improving industrial processes through flexible automation and customized robotic applications for advanced manufacturing.
Robotech co-founders Carl Thibault and Francis Bourbonnais indicated that joining GE Vernova opens up new technical and professional opportunities for their team within large-scale industrial projects.
Automation is gaining ground in the energy sector
The purchase reflects how energy companies are accelerating investments in industrial robotics to modernize operations and increase global competitiveness.
GE Vernova has progressively expanded its presence in technologies related to automation, digitalization and operational efficiency as part of its strategy to support the energy transition and modernize industrial infrastructures.
In Canada, the company has maintained operations for more than 130 years and currently employs more than 2,400 people in different manufacturing centers and offices.
GE Vernova’s technologies are currently involved in approximately 43% of Canadian electricity generation and also support projects related to energy transmission, storage, and smart grids.
The acquisition of Robotech Automation is expected to close in early Q3 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
