DayOne Data Centers signed landmark renewable energy supply agreements with TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. Y TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. , strengthening clean procurement for its data center operations in Malaysia.
The agreements were formalized under Malaysia’s corporate renewable energy supply scheme, known as CRESS, a framework that enables companies to procure green electricity directly from renewable developers.
Agreements cover 1.5 GWp solar
The new contracts cover approximately 1.5 GWp of solar capacity and 2.2 GWh of battery storage, intended for ground-mounted solar systems and hybrid hydroelectric projects with floating solar.
The energy will support the decarbonization of DayOne’s operations in Malaysia, where the company operates high-capacity campuses focused on digital infrastructure, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.
The agreements also include the transfer of renewable energy certificates, contributing to DayOne’s goal of achieving 100% renewable energy across its entire platform by 2030 or earlier, depending on market conditions.
DayOne exceeds 1 GW renewable in Malaysia
The new alliance expands the CRESS agreement signed by DayOne with TNB in June 2025, through which the company secured up to 500 MW of renewable energy over a 21-year term.
With both agreements, DayOne secures over 1 GW of renewable energy in Malaysia through its partnership with TNB. This advancement positions it among the first companies to move from renewable energy intent to full contractual execution under the CRESS framework.
The company also aims to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% from its 2025 baseline.
Malaysia strengthens its digital hub
The alliance supports Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap and its goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Additionally, it reinforces the country’s position as a regional hub for data centers, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. In this market, access to reliable renewable energy has become an increasingly important requirement for global technology companies.
DayOne currently operates two high-capacity campuses at Nusajaya Tech Park and Kempas Tech Park, and plans to make Malaysia its largest global operational center.
Clean energy for AI and cloud
Jamie Khoo, Chief Executive Officer of DayOne, noted that access to long-term renewable energy will be critical as demand for infrastructure for artificial intelligence and cloud services grows.
For his part, Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul bin Ahmad, President and Chief Executive Officer of TNB, emphasized that the CRESS scheme facilitates greater access to sustainable and reliable energy solutions.
With these agreements, DayOne aims to scale digital infrastructure responsibly, strengthening the energy resilience of its operations and supporting its clients’ sustainability goals.
