The company COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers completed the transport and anchoring of the central infrastructure intended for the Qingzhou V wind farms and Qingzhou VII. This installation consolidates the deployment of the first two-gigawatt high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system established in a marine environment.

The main structure stands out for having an approximate mass of 25,000 tonnes, which places this component among the largest built for the global sector. Regarding the projected performance, the plant will generate an annual average of 7.7 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy.

This volume of electricity will supply the consumption of more than one million local households, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 6.3 million metric tonnes per year.

Specifically, the favorable outcome of the offshore maneuver depended on the use of the specialized vessel Xiang Tai Kou. This vessel features a DP2-class dynamic positioning design and a deadweight capacity of 65,000 tonnes. Likewise, the advanced ballast system enabled controlled submersion during the float-off process, ensuring rigorous stability against fluctuations in ocean currents.

Therefore, the shipping company will increase its operational capabilities in response to the growing international demand for offshore energy infrastructure. Currently, the organization is building a new semi-submersible vessel with a capacity of 70,000 tonnes.

The addition will make it possible to manage highly complex marine engineering projects and ensure efficient solutions for the international maritime transport of oversized cargo.
