BP and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) have confirmed the successful start-up of the MJ gas and condensate project on the east coast of India. MJ is the third major deepwater development carried out by the RIL-BP partnership in the KG D6 block.

China is increasing cobalt reserves, taking advantage of the reduction in its price. China’s National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration plans to procure around 2,000 tons of cobalt as its refineries are heavily dependent on cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This morning, the Campeche platform was engulfed in flames and chaos, as a catastrophic explosion rocked the Nohoch-Alfa offshore platform, owned by Mexican oil giant Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex). The incident, which occurred on the coasts of Tabasco and Campeche, has so far left six people injured.
