OpenAI has announced the launch of the ChatGPT app for Windows, marking its entry into the Microsoft desktop ecosystem. This preview version is available to paying users, including ChatGPT Plus , Team , Enterprise , and Edu subscribers. Although the app is a preview, the full version is expected to arrive later this year, offering an improved experience.
ChatGPT app for Windows is available
The new app allows users to interact with ChatGPT directly from their Windows 10 computers, opening up the possibility of chatting about files and photos. One of the most notable features is the integration of the DALL-E 3 image generator , which allows users to create images from text directly from the app.
Despite the new capabilities, the current version of ChatGPT for Windows has some limitations. For example, it does not have voice support or the advanced voice command mode that OpenAI has implemented in other clients. Also, some integrations with OpenAI’s GPT store are not available in this version.
Moreover, OpenAI has designed the app to work efficiently alongside other productivity tools. For example, users can minimize the app to a small floating window while working in other programs, making it easy to access ChatGPT’s features without interrupting their workflow.
Today, ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu users can start testing an early version of the Windows desktop app.

In the coming months, OpenAI is expected to implement more features into the app, such as full support for voice commands, which will allow for a more versatile experience closer to the full desktop version.
